Fight Club Question!?
I couldn't understand where Tyler Durden's wealth of knowledge on weapons and explosives originated from. We know in the conclusion of the book that Tyler shared the narrator's body. This explains the insomnia and the confusion felt by the narrator. However, it doesn't explain Tyler's knowledge of all things violent and unholy. If they shared the same body, then they obviously shared the same brain. So first of all, why were things like "to make a silencer, you just drill holes in the barrel of the gun, a lot of holes" in the narrator's head to begin with? And secondly, why was only Tyler able to access them until later in the book as he talked about the difference between the Eagle Apache, Armalite, and the J and R 68, all of which are automatic weapons. I just think that it's strange that this information somehow found its way into the narrator's brain, but was only accessed by by Tyler for the majority of the book. If somebody understands this better, I would love to hear an explanation.
i presume it's knowledge he's either picked up subconsciously, or when he was Tyler he googled it[?!], yet the narrator didn't need the knowledge, therefore didn't recall ever having it.
